The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,
This review is from: Antifolk Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
Moldy Peaches compile something; I have to buy it. Dragged kicking and screaming from the stage of the Sidewalk Cafe Open Mike Spot, it's a pretty good compilation of Antifolk, with some old favourites (Adam Green, Stipplicon, Joie/Dead Blonde Girlfriend) some new songs from people I like (Jeffrey Lewis, Kimya Dawson) and loads of cool songs you wouldn't be able to find otherwise - self released albums and one off recordings. It yields such gems as Brer Brian's Harlem '99, Brian Piltin's Tramp Star and Lach ("Drinking beers with mom" -what a name). Overall it's pretty good - mostly "one man, his guitar and someone else's four track" style songs...if you like Jeff Lewis, it's mostly in a similar vein, but with enough variations to keep most of us interested. As a compilation, though, it beats Chilled Out Ibiza Anthems VII.
