Good, but very limiting,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 (Electronics)
I purchased this to replace my Microsoft lifechat LX headset as a serious gaming headset with the added bonus of being able to walk around the house. Overall I have had my ups and downs with this product, but it is not for everyone. Here's why.
The headset itself is great. From a pure "I just want to listen to stuff in stereo" point of view, this does the job. Its has a great sound, fits comfortably and you have a few buttons around to push too. The battery lasts between 5 - 8 hours, not the 10 hours advertised but thats not something to sniff at since you will be near your pc most of the time anyway. And it has a microphone... Not a great microphone but aaaah well. The build quality isnt bad and the range you get is generous.
Although this sounds great on paper, the fact is the headset is a letdown in every other area other than sonic quality. The first thing to note is that it is USB. Of course thats to be expected as it is wireless. This means configuring this to playback with the speakers without audio latency is impossible. I record gameplay commentaries for youtube and this headset renders me unable to split the audio in the way I want because it is USB and does not work through the Stereo Mix in Win7. Another thing is that Logitech really messed up the mic quality. It is constantly locked to Tape Quality. This means you will have no bass in your voice, and no treble. Only mids.
So if you want to just listen to something without wires and want to fiddle about changing the default device every time. Then this headset will do fine. If you want to do more complicated things with splitting and routing audio then please AVOID THIS HEADSET. It will not do it for you. I hope I helped somebody.

Im a PC gamer and i love to listen to music so ive done what a lot of other people do and have bought a quality set of headphones and a clip on mic. This is a brilliant guide and worth the read. I went for the AKG 's in the end and a £9 clip on condenser mic. Works brilliantly and until youve listened to sound through a quality set of headphones you dont really see how bad most of the gaming headsets are. I wont buy a gaming headset again.
