Annoying piece of equipment,
This review is from: Dyson DC39 Animal Full Size Dyson Ball Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen & Home)
I have owned several Dyson upright cleaners over the years with no complaints at all. Having recently purchased a DC39i I didn't think it was possible to hate a domestic appliance as much as I do. The build quality is excellent and there is no doubt it vacuums extremely well, but the practically of using it is troublesome. I have a combination of hard floors and carpets, the turbo head works well on carpets but fails to pick up anything larger than dust on hard floors, it just pushes bits around. Fortunately I purchased the 'i' version so there are alternative heads, one of which works brilliantly on hard floors. The cable and hose get in the way of the ball following you around, so I've been holding the machine in one hand and vacuuming with the other, I now have arms that a Orangutan would be proud of. The hose is too short to do a flight of stairs and the machine is too big to safely leave on a step. My old upright stood in a cupboard under the stairs and took up little space, the DC39 takes up a lot more space and requires some disassembly to stow away and hence re-assembly before using it. It is quicker and simpler just to use a broom on hard floors.
The intelligent ball is smarter than me, I should never have purchased it.
