I saw the band's farewell gig in 1982 (now available as the CD 'Live') and went home to mourn. Yet for all their differences of direction (including Paul Jones' much vaunted stage career) the music was too strong and they just had to re-form. This was their return and it's so good I bought it twice. There's not a weak song anywhere although I particularly like their declaration of business as usual in the opening cut 'Normal Service', and for those of us who believe that the morality of blues music is sometimes a little suspect, Paul Jones' autobiographical'Bad Boy' is a great touch too. But as if often the case with Blues Band albums Dave Kelly just pips the others to provide the top contribution and on this CD the last track, 'Leaving', is about as soulful as anything I've heard. This is a band of whom it can never be said 'if you've heard one you've heard them all', so even if you have half a dozen other Blues Band albums this is well worth acquiring. And these days it's cheap too - what more could you want?
