Most comprehensive, but with problems,
This review is from: Access To History: The People's Republic of China 1949-76 2nd Edition (Paperback)
Studying this for AS history currently. this book is by far the most comprehensive textbook on the 1949-76 period, however it DOES contain no references [mind you, not that this is important for the AS history course] but furthermore some pages go as far as calling Mao a 'lunatic' (even if he might have been) which is not constructive or useful. It's the most comprehensive and gives a much better overview than other textbooks, however is written with an underlying capitalist bias that becomes a little annoying after a while. A more balanced account would have made this perfect.
