Excellent and bargainous boxset!,
This review is from: The Natural World [DVD] (DVD)
High quality set of DVDs featuring programs from the Discovery Channel. Fascinatingly produced, and unlike so many of the Discovery Channel programs, not completely obsessed with reproduction.
On the second DVD, there is however a strangely extended feature on the behaviour of whelks which makes you feel like you should be covering your children's eyes! There are a few other parts which can make for unsettling viewing, such as frankly unnecessary footage of tribesmens naughty bits, an amourous pair of wolves, and some geological features that don't exactly overstretch the imagination as to what they are meant to symbolise. My young daughter repeatedly asked me difficult questions at various points, which made me think I might have done better with a Lazy Town DVD.
However, if you can cope with this possibility, there is much to enjoy on the 8 DVDs, and they really are a bargain price!

I think that it is very useful to have such information there presented in a sensible and factual way. I remember an Attenborough where a type of sea slug ( I think) fights it out with a male rival and they try to bite off each others penis! The kids and I had a good laugh about that one.
