Prejudice still holds,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Fortune-Teller Told Me: Earthbound Travels in the Far East (Paperback)
I must admit I enjoyed reading the book.
However when it came to describing Singapore, I felt anger at the way he described my beloved country. I find his book a book of contradictions. Towards Singapore, he expressed sadness for the loss of traditional values. (But he also looked for 'essential' modern items and think the logical mindset is better!)
It had, in my opinion, not. He had also decidedly said Singapore is a police state because of its many rules - and his implicit disapproval of 'talkative' taxidrivers. It had made him want to run from the 'restrictive' country. He found traditional values and chaos and magic much better ingredients for an Asian country! Magic? ha...if we believe in them...should we openly say it to you?...
