For snake oil sellers,
This review is from: How to Double Your Sales: The Ultimate Masterclass in How to Sell Anything to Anyone (Financial Times Series) (Paperback)
What a pretty dreadful book.
No doubt the author can sell sand to the Arabs and ice to the Eskimos, and has probably been responsible for training many of the double glazing sales people that plague millions of us via those unwanted cold phone calls.
If you do not have a conscience and are looking for a book to help turn you into a pushy, unethical snake oil salesman (or woman), this book is for you.
I would stress the word "unethical" to describe some of the advice given in this book as the author prescribes being economical with the truth on a number of pages. He does not use the word "lies" of course but instead uses the euphemism of "being cheeky" - saying things to prospective customers that are blatantly not true, in order to get them to buy things that YOU want them to buy, irrespective of whether they really want them or not.
Also the book offers great advice in how to be really pushy - ie, foot-in-the-door type of advice, spread throughout the book. It also offers some sound advice on getting referrals and leads from weak-minded or gullible people whom you have not even met yet, let alone done business with. The book also offers many example scripts that you can use to manipulate secretaries and receptionists so you can be put through to people who have expressly said "no sales people".
If you do not have a conscience, happy to steal from your grandmother, and want great advice on being one of those dreadful pushy sales people that normal individuals with ethics and manners hate, then this book is just for you.
