Review of the Blu Ray quality,
This review is from: Bruce Springsteen With the Sessions Band - Live in Dublin [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Ignore the review from Colin Belfast who states that this disc is not in HD. That is absolute nonsense as anyone with eyes in their head can see. I wonder what size screen he is watching this on that he can see no difference between this and a standard definition image. I am viewing it on a 60" Samsung LED and the upgrade from the DVD version is immediately apparent.
Granted this is not the most razor sharp HD image you will see (hence my 4 stars instead of 5), but that is primarily down to the low lighting under which this concert was recorded which lends a slightly grainier than usual look to images recorded using HD video cameras. People have got to realise that not all Blu Ray discs are supposed to look like "Toy Story".
Have no qualms if you are wondering whether to upgrade from the standard DVD to the Blu Ray disc. This is a definite upgrade from the standard definition version both in terms of picture quality, and primarily in terms of audio, that makes the upgrade a no-brainer. Colours are more fully saturated than on the DVD version, but still somewhat muted, which along with the slight (and it is slight) grain and low lighting gives the image a certain richness and a slightly "aged" quality that is perfectly in keeping with the music.
And of course the musical content is top notch.
