This review is from: Sleeping with Dogs: A Peripheral Autobiography (Hardcover)
I have read Brian Sewell's autobiography, because I love his style and wit. He can be an acerbic old b*ug*er but he is all consuming. A friend bought this latest book for me and when it arrived I was glad to see it was a slim tome as I no longer have time to indulge in reading. However, once started I was hooked and finished it in two days. It would have been quicker had I not had to stop on so many occasions to weep, sob and lay thinking of my own dogs of old. This book shows another side of Mr Sewell, one so tender and respectful, so absolutely devoted to his canine companions. There is a chapter dedicated to every dog he ever had share his life. I won't say "owned" as these were more equals than pets. But inevitably every chapter must end in the demise of the dog, so beware, and keep those tissues at hand.
I will be recommending this book to all my "dog friends" and buying several copies to gift to people over the coming festive period.
