More fun than stabbing yourself in the eyes,
This review is from: Dawn of Magic 2 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Not sure what else it's more fun than though.
If you play this through by following the "storyline" you'll be ludicrously underpowered most of the time. To level enough to actually wield the things you find lying around you need to grind out levels on wandering wilderness mobs. Creatures that are still off screen on the highest resolution can target you with ranged effects but you can't target them. Some of their spells in some areas can't be dodged and do more than your total max HP unless you've gone off and killed coyotes for ten levels. "Oh I just got hit by lightning and died (AGAIN), how exciting"
The 100's of spells are just different flavours of the same dozen basic effects and very quickly you'll find yourself ignoring all but half a dozen and frankly the game is much simpler if you just beat everything to death with a club than trying to use most of the magic. I was convinced it "had" to get better but it never did, I want my 12 hours back!
