Vintage murder mysteries in the mountains,
This review is from: Death Finds a Foothold (Rue Morgue Classic British Mysteries) (Paperback)
The mystery novels written by Glen Carr have been too long out of print, but now thanks to Rue Morgue Press we have the opportunity to enjoy them. The main character Abercrombie Lewker is a larger than life professional actor given to quoting Shakespeare (this can be either endearing or annoying depending on the reader's taste). The mysteries themselves all take place in mountainous regions, with clever red herrings, eccentric sub-characters and fine descriptions of mountains and countryside. The books are great fun that stimulate attention and pleasure. There are currently 5 available novels - with more to come I hope.
I would recommend readers of fine mystery stories to log on to the Rue Morgue Press web-site where they will find a full programme of long out of print classic mystery novels.
If you preference is for short stories then log on to the Crippen and Landru web-site where there is a choice of excellent short story collections, many finding book printing for the first time
