This review is from: Road to Rouen (Paperback)
Ben Hatch's Road to Rouen takes a light-hearted and ironic look at life in France from a British perspective and seamlessly combines it with more thought-provoking elements about human relationships and family. The result is an enjoyable and entertaining read that nevertheless has its feet on the ground. This is the sort of book that has broad appeal but those embarking on a holiday in France will find it particularly amusing as they will no doubt be living out many of the scenes Ben describes. As a Brit who has lived on the continent for over 25 years, it was also fascinating to see how so many of the elements of francophone life appear strange to folk from Blighty. Indeed, I had many of Ben's experiences when first arriving but over time have simply gotten used to them. All in all - a good read!
