Great fast paced and imaginative sci fi thiller,

This review is from: TimeRiders (Book 1) (Kindle Edition)This is a wonderfully fast paced sci fi horror thriller with an imaginatively clever time travel construct.
There are a signs of inspiration from various older classic scifi films and books. For example, there is a relationship between a boy and and android that is very similar to Terminator 2. But regardless of the obvious inspirations of older classics, there is no denying that this book was an absolute page turner. I must also say there is a surprising amount of real horror in this book that I do not actually recommend for anyone younger than 14. The narrative style is much like a cross between Dean Kontz horror and Michael Crichton high concept sci fi thrillers.
I can imagine this book being made into a summer blockbuster film, it certainly reads like one and has all the right ingredients. The level of intensity cranks up with every chapter until I literally, as a reader, was breaking a sweat!
The time travel intracies are cleverly done but not completely consistent which is expected for the level of complexity the book dares to venture. The characters were quite superb, both villians and heroes.
A fantastic start then to a most promising series. I Very much recommend this and I am now starting to read the sequel
I am an adult reader by the way (though some debates that) so I can gladly recommend this to all adults even though this is targeted towards older teenagers.
Update: I am now on book 6, and given the whole story arc, this series is absolutely enthralling with every book getting better and better and developing into a magnificent grand epic. I have also since re-read this first book and have now upgraded my rating to a full 5 stars. Where I thought there was plot inconsistencies, later books addressed them ingeniously and its is now clear they were never plot holes to start with.
