This album, the first I've bought by Mr Big, was done so because of the reputation Paul Gilbert's guitar playing (he penned a very fine guitar playing column in a magazine I had). The album reminds me very much of the notes by the singer of quiet riot, the band which saw Randy Rhoads on guitar before he switched to Ozzy. He remarked that the band were constantly attempting to keep their rock credentials but they felt that the their chances of being signed to a big label depended on the market - more and more of their songs were turning into pop. Lean Into It feels a lot like that. Great rock playing from Gilbert and Sheenan but, really, it is pop, isn't it?
