Fantastic music - but I'm being milked here.,
This review is from: Arthur (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)I suppose I should be happy to shell out again (vinyl first time, CD reissue with bonus tracks a dozen years ago) but I do feel a bit, well, a bit milked. What's sticking in my throat is the way the compilers just seem to deliberately have felt it necessary to leave off "There Is No Life Without Love" (b-side to "Lincoln County") as has been mentioned. Additionally, the series has managed to avoid hoovering up the great "Pictures In The Sand", only available on the 1973 US compilation "The Great Lost Kinks Album". So annoying. If they want to sleep well at night, these compilers really shouldn't commit such acts of crass insensitivity. But I guess it allows them to justify issuing a 3D hologram edition in 2019.
PS - "There Is No Life Without Love" is still available on the previous CD reissue of "Something Else By The Kinks" (not the Deluxe Edition) as one of the bonus tracks. All of these '60s Kinks albums really are essential.

I think it's Ray Davies himself who refuses to allow "Pictures in the Sand" to be released. Why, I don't know.

Precisely, Andrew Sandoval has said himself that it is Ray that has blocked every attempt to include Pictures in the Sand and Till Death us Do Part. If people aren't happy with the omissions, don't blame the compilers, Ray has final approval. So much more unreleased gems to enjoy in these reissues, stereo Lincoln County for one.
Pictures in the Sand and There Is No Life Without Love, although frustrating they are missing, are not exactly difficult to find.

I'll believe that only if and when it happens. I've heard about its impending release one too many times in the last decade. No more excitement about it to be fooled out of me. If it happens, THEN I'll be excited!!!
