1.0 out of 5 stars Shame about the hard drive, 10 May 2011
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV7-4150ea 17" Laptop (Intel Core i5-460M 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Bluetooth, Windows 7 Home Prem 64-bit) - Brushed Aluminium (Electronics)
I've had two of these laptops in the last three weeks. Looks wise and build quality are superb but both failed due to the hard disk drive. The first one kept checking the disk on bootup and then one day just died completely. The second I'd had for two days and it started disk checking. I wasn't going to wait for the inevitable and have since swapped to a Samsung which is a shame because I'm a big HP fan. Basically they are using a hitachi hdd which is reknown for failing. If this was a different hdd I'm sure everything would have been dandy.
Just beware. It's alot of money to spend and alot of data to lose should the unthinkable happen. Not to mention the hours to set everything up and get your laptop just right, only to have to repeat the process again and again.

Happened to me too! Plus it's constantly overheating, it's 2 years old but it's always done it. I'm on my 2nd battery, now just looking for battery no. 3. The overheating's so bad I can't play a puzzle game and watch a video at the same time, it overheats every 30-45 minutes and then switches off without warning. Plus, it's ridiculously noise - like a jet engine. Never again!! What a waste of money.
