This review is from: Private Parts and Pieces Vol.8 (Audio CD)I am amazed that there are no reviews for this as I consider it one of Ants most accomplished and 'full-on' works. Certainly it doesn't seem to me to fit into the vein of the PPP series, which each tend to be of a kind of instrumentation or style. There is great variety on here (by Ants standards!)
The reason that I have given it five stars however is because of the beauty of the works, rather than merely the variety. There really are some timeless and sublime pieces, whether solo piano, solo guitar or pieces featuring a range of instruments. In particular there is the utterly incredible 'Pieces of Eight - Sea Shanty' which features cello and is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music that I have ever heard - I have instructed my wife that I would like it to be played at my funeral! (if I go first)
If you are new to AP, then you wouldn't go far wrong with this. Also Slow Dance, Geese and the Ghost, and Field Day.
