Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PS310U USB 2.0 Single Port MFP and Storage Server (Personal Computers)
I think my expectations have pushed this to its limit.

I have recently bought 4 1TB Western Digital portable drives, and a 13 port hub to power and connect them to this device. I am experiencing all the "flakiness" mentioned by others. I think the best I have achieved so far is in connecting a single drive to the device without the hub. When I connect the hub I cannot access any of the drives, no matter how few are connected. I have had no drives detected scenario, and usb driver error when I try to connect to multiple drives which are apparently seen by the software.

I noticed in another product review, that there is a limit to drive size mentioned, but none here. I think I have found it. My hub just does not work with this, and it takes about 8 minutes to read a drive when directly connected, so if all 4 drives had worked it would take about 30 minutes for them to appear on the computer. Switch on and go for a walk I think. This slowness was mentioned previously in another review.

This cheap toy may have some use in the future, but certainly is useless in creating a media server. I am giving it 1 star. More honesty about its limitations from the manufacturers needed.

GET REAL! If you want a NAS buy a NAS. Also you exceeded the specification by attaching a 13 port device.

Dick Pearson says:
Specification says 4 devices and only one at a time. It successfully does this and no more.
