This review is from: Theodore Boone: Theodore Boone 1 (Paperback)
Like a number of reviewers I had not picked up that this book was aimed at younger viewers. However, even with that in mind it was disappointing and appeared to be unfinished. With a few pages to go I wondered how the plot could be wrapped up so quickly but basically it wasn't.
Maybe because it was aimed at younger viewers the hero and his family just seem too perfect and lacking in character to make it interesting and almost all of the characters come acros as too nice. Even Uncle Ike who "was lonely and generally unpleasant" comes across well. This book probably does give an introduction to the US legal system for younger viewers, but the hero who is portrayed as pretty much an expert when told he may be held "in conptempt" does not know what that means. I do read and select books for younger readers to read, but this is not one that I will rush to recommend to them.
