Cale collection -- some hits, some misses,
By A Customer
This review is from: Seducing Down the Door Collect (Audio CD)
"Seducing.."is an overview of the post-Velvets work of John Cale, who has been variously a Welsh bard and classical artiste, a pop music genius, a Godfather Of Punk, and a Burnt-Out Case. It's a delight to old fans: there are some unreleased and rare tracks, and the booklet itself is worth the price of admission. New fans will find most of the crucial songs included, including some of his recent-ish collaborations with Lou Reed and Brian Eno. Cranky old fans will quibble with the selection: brilliant songs like "Wilson Joliet" are ignored, while puffy stuff like "Dirtyass Rock & Roll" makes the cut. Still, it's a good index to a magnificent body of work.
