Hard reading but enlightening.,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This book charts the many revolutions that humanity has underwent in the course of a fairly short history. There is a common thread of examining its implications and complications to Earth as a global system.
I originally found it slightly pretentious in its almost God-like perspective and there were many points that required rereading to grasp. It was difficult to get through but enlightening.
This is not the popular science book in that it does embrace its academia almost as a point of proof. Some things I had previously taken for obvious are explained in great detail which strengthens the grasp. It is hard going and not the usual fare of non-fiction reading but very good nonetheless.
