Great product, highly recommended,
This review is from: Huawei E5331 High Speed 3G 21.1Mbps Mi-Fi Unlocked Modem (Electronics)
I was looking for a cheap mifi so I can use my iPad when out and about, it was real plug and play, insert sim card turn on, input SSID code on the inside of the rear cover. Online in under a minute, brilliant. Using a 3GB from Amazon means I get faster and cheaper broadband than my fixed line.
What I liked about this E5331 compared to the unlocked ones from 3 is it works on 2G so even in areas with poor signal I can still get on the internet which you cannot do with the 3 device as it does not have any 2G.

how would I use this abroad? I hired one last time I was in Spain but as I go a lot I wonder if it would be cheaper to buy one and then buy the data. would need about 250mb per day for up to 3 weeks

I don't know about Spain, but when I go to Portugal I buy a SIM which costs just under 15 Euros and gives me 1gb of data - which lasts me over a week. I originally bought a MiFi but now I use my smartphone instead (and put the SIM from my smartphone in my old phone in case anyone calls me).
The only problem I've found is the settings in the MiFi/Smartphone - you have to know how to set it up, which is difficult if you don't have an Internet connection. So look up the info for the main providers before you leave England.

When in Spain I use a SIM from Masmovil and pay them 14.90 euros for 1GB or for longer periods 29.90 euros for 5GB. When I leave I ask to go onto "Free Internet" where you pay 0.03 euros per MB, so if you don't use any, you don't pay anything.
