5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant & Easy to Use, 23 Dec. 2009

This review is from: Belkin PC to PC USB Windows 7 Easy Transfer Cable (Personal Computers)
I highly recommend buying this product. If you've just purchased a new PC with Windows 7 installed and need to transfer lots of data from an old PC (I had to transfer 40gb of music and photos), then this is the product for you. I was initially a little sceptical about spending money on a cable I might only use a few times. But it's so easy to use - you load a CD installation disk onto your old computer, connect the cable and follow the simple instructions. It's so much better and easier compared with having to burn lots of DVDs and manually transferring the data.

I will soon have two Windows 7 PCs (a Toshiba laptop & a Dell netbook / tablet convertible) but Dell failed to mention I could purchase a "Belkin Windows 7 transfer cable" with their PC. So, when I realised the error I 'phoned them & asked how much it would cost for them to supply. Dell Sales wanted £30 plus £8 carriage (which only guaranteed delivery in 7-business days - & - I'm expecting the new PC any day now) which compares to http://www.amazon.co.uk offer @ £11.71 including FREE delivery.

PC World quoted £30 to transfer the data for me.

Your review just saved me £26.29 !

Thank you.

If you have a wireless network with both PCs running Windows7, it's far easier to use the Win7 Homegroup feature and share the drives across your network. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/help/home-sweet-homegroup-networking-the-easy-way

Can someone tell me if this cable transfers e-mail messages over and if so where I can find them?

Email messages are usually transferred by adding the associated email account to the mail program on the new pc, where they are then automatically downloaded. If however you can't you can find the emails on your computer and copy them across however it depends on you email program as to where they are located.

Thanks for your review - may I ask if the data transfer process erases the data on the source PC, or does it just copy it to the new machine, leaving the old PC with the data still on it? Thanks :)
