I've had this now for a year and have to admit that it has saved me lots of money and been a true marvel of technology.
I'm pretty comfortable dealing with all types of technology and gadgets, yet even for me this took a lot of fiddling and tweaking until I got where I want. At the moment I have dispensed with all line rentals, TV packages and simply have one charge for my cable connection - all my communications go through this box including landline (physical local home telephone number), television and of course Internet communications such as web and email. I ported my landline geographic number to a VOIP provider and pay pittance per year for national and international calls, stream TV and phone calls including mobile through it. I connect remotely into home using VPN (and can call home for free from hotel rooms using VOIP) and get to share videos and photos through its media server. All for one monthly charge for the cable connection - broadband only.
It took looking around on forums to get it working well. Firstly it didn't work too well with my cable provider, then some parameters were sensitive and I'd set them too low so my 50Mb cable connection looked more like 5Mb, then the physical landline port didn't 'stick' with the VOIP gateway. However once sorted I sit back and add service after service to this including energy monitoring, blocking unwanted telephone numbers, answering machine, web traffic control and so on. This really is an amazing box but I'd have to suggest that it isn't everyone's cup of tea especially if your needs are simple or you don't have the time to invest in all the options which this can provide.
