The Best Single Book on the War,
This review is from: The War The Infantry Knew: 1914-1919: A Chronicle of Service in France and Belgium (History Greats) (Paperback)
Wholeheartedly support others comments. Dunn and his host of collaborators give the best general picture of what 'really happened' of the hundreds of first hand accounts. Its very interesting that Dunn loved Sassoon but hated Graves, whose 'Goodbye to All That' is a great book but absolutely not a memoir.
