i totally disagree with the previous review. I love Harper & Tolliver and their story. This book does centre more on the family life of Harper & Tolliver - & i hope because of this , that this is not the end of this great series, with two great characters. We have learnt from book 1, that Harper was struck by lightening & this is where her strange gift came from, Tolliver her (step) brother is her partner & eventually her lover. We knew from the previous book, that we were leading up to this, in this book we get more about her family & less paranormal, but it is still a hugely entertaining book, i finished it in a couple of days, i just couldn't put it down.We see more of Harper becoming independent, as Tolliver is shot & this is decisive writing, Harper is moving along (hopefully not gone)& becoming stronger. Manfred is also in this book & has a bigger part to play, maybe they could all get together & take the series in a new direction to make it last longer. I know most people are fans of Charlaine's Sookie series, i am not, but feel that Ms.Harris's writing is very good & would like to read more from her, we've already lost the Lily Bard books, so were not left with much. I hope this convinces you all to give this book a try, if you've enjoyed the last couple of books, i think you will feel surely as i do, that this was just the natural course for these two characters to go. There's nothing worse than dragging a story along for too long, either they do or they don't.
