This review is from: Pemberley: Or Pride and Prejudice Continued (Hardcover)
This book is by no means an Austen Sequel, the characters though original are not at all like Jane wrote them. Lizzy is always upset or in tears which is not at all as we know JA wanted her to be. She is a determined young woman not all depressing. Darcy seems to be quiet and unloving and we don't get the impression of how much he loves lizzy. Some of the facts just don't work, like how Jane can have a one year old daughter and be 8 months pregnant after just 1 year of marriage. Also, you would have thought that Lizzy would have learned to not be prejudiced and Darcy not to be Proud. The story also ends very abruptly and is too conclusive in the last 2 pages.
Besides all this if you are an fanatic about P+P like me the book is worth a read just for the sake of finding out other peoples views on what happens to th Darcys. The plot is very good with lots of unexpected turns. But only if you havn't actually read P+P because it is very predictable.
