Good story, bit predictable,
This review is from: The Missing (Paperback)
Sarah Finch is haunted by the disappearance of her brother. Then one day she discovers the dead body of one of her school pupils. This is the start of a nightmare of episodes that escalate into suspicion and danger. Because of Sarah's excessive curiosity in the murder case she inevitably falls under suspicion. This results in aggression and violence that is beyond Sarah's comprehension and drives her to the edge of despair.
This is an exciting first novel that has been very well researched. I found the character of Sarah bland and irritating, but the liveliness of the story rescues her. There are `flashback' chapters that lend a sense of expectancy to the book and fills in details of Sarah's family in the past. I quickly got engrossed in this gripping thriller that also includes romance, and found that I couldn't wait to get to the conclusion, even though I'd predicted it.
