Significantly worse than previous DBZ games
, 6 Nov. 2011
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3) (Video Game)
Despite a couple of positive points I found this game really dissapointing. I liked the flow of the story mode and the new anime cutscenes (Although these were somewhat ruined by the new voice actors. Not bad, just unfamilar to fans of the series). The graphics were also quite good.
None of this however makes up for the appalling new battle system implemented into Ultimte Ttenkaichi. Any fast paced action is now interrupted by appallingly repetitve 50-50 clashes. And by 50-50 I mean no matter what character your using then you both have a random coinflip whether you do any real damage or not. You can have the most powerful fighters losing a fifth of their total health because they lost a coinflip with Yamcha. Not good.
The promised Custom Character mode is also appaling. The characters you make all look like goku with varying hair and are initialy pitfully weak compared to the default characters provided. The hero mode is also linear, short, easy and makes no sense at all.
Overall a poor game that will newcomer's to DBZ bored and fans annoyed.
