Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Firstly I want to say that I love cookbooks and cooking, so was chuffed to get sent this book by Amazon Vine. The book feels lovely with a padded cover and is a nice compact size with a pretty cover.
That for me is where the good stuff ends.....I have to say that I really dislike the 'faffy' layout of the book. All those changes in text size and font irritate me beyond belief and would prevent me from ever using the cookbook. Pages on how to spot clouds, build a fire pit, rules for cricket.....for goodness sake!!!
This is smug, pretentious snobbery wrapped up in a nice cover. I do not doubt the recipes would be nice, some of them sound lovely, but in my frustration of weeding out the recipes from the chaff I went to the index page and even that was tiresome to decipher.....and I knew that I would never actually cook a recipe from this book.
Think Nigella cum Kath Kidston with a dash of Beatrix Potter and that just about covers it!
I want glossy contemporary photos, clean crisp instructions, descriptive but contemporary cookbooks, not this mish mash of waffle!
