Amazing for the Price,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I wanted to wear a kilt for my wedding day, and had exhausted all lines of enquiry about getting a kilt made in my own tartan - I just simply couldn't run to that kind of budget.
So I started looking at somewhat cheaper options, and stumbled across this one. A kilt - for £40? "Naaaah" I thought, and kept looking. But I kept coming back to it. Eventually I bit the bullet and gave it a go - and I'm very glad I did.
The quality - for this price - is remarkable. Just wear it a couple of times before that formal occasion so that any threads that are going to come loose do actually come loose, fit up with a decent kilt pin, sporran and hose/shoes and no-one will be able to tell the difference (without touching it) between this and one that costs ten timea as much. At my wedding was a thoroughbred Scotsman (and a bit of a kilt purist), who was was completely gobsmacked when I told him how much this kilt had cost.
Just one word of warning - PLEASE take notice of the sizing instructions. It is meant to be worn (and sits confortably) higher than trousers - around the navel, in fact - and for this reason you MUST buy a waiste-size bigger than your trousers. I am a 34" with trousers, and a 36" Kilt fitted me just nicely. Do not be afraid (if you are - erm - expanding!) about going even bigger - a 38" kilt (and possibly 40") would have done me just fine too - there are (very posh looking) leather straps to tighten it all up once you're in.
You may also wish to sew a couple of small weights into the pleats - just to give it a little extra swing.
This will look great on anyone at a formal occasion, and informal ones too. Just get used to wearing it for a while - it will change the way you walk (I was unprepared for this, but it's true), and maybe even the way you dress - I have sworn I will never wear a Dress Suit again!
This a fantastic product for the price.
