Good But Far From Perfect,
This review is from: Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
You have to give them credit, Namco Bandai have done their best to eradicate the problems that were present in Storm 2 and Generations. However Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is still far from being the perfect game in this series.
Ultimate adventure mode is good and follows the actual Naruto Shippuden storyline much more closely than past games. However there are still some technical glitches that make it seem like the game is trying to cheat you. Not too bad when you're faced with a simple sparring match, but more than annoying when you're mid-way through one of the many boss battles, which are very well done but I'd say not that much of an improvement compared to the games predecessor. Also the game ends rather abruptly and you're left with a feeling of "That's it?"
Free Battle allows you to play with a range of characters with a roster far beyond what the series has offered before. As always the battles are fast paced, cinematic and full of unrealistic over-powered jutsu, one thing that we can all love about Naruto. However again there are lots of unpolished errors that need to be fixed with a simple update.
Online mode is as infuriating as ever, and by that I mean great fun. The game removes a lot of the potential for spammers that there once was however it makes way for others. Also, bad connections seem to be cropping up more and more frequently which is a shame as a decent match can be a whole heap of fun but is just ruined when it takes ten seconds for your character to react after you've hit your controller.
Overall the game is great fun with a reasonably sized story. Conversely there are too many problems that really by this point in the series should be fixed and out-dated. Not a massive step up from its predecessor but and great game on its own non the less. If you're a Naruto fan it's a must! If not... Well it's not all bad.
