Naked Music label makes Beach House a success,
This review is from: Beach House (Audio CD)
How hot is San Francisco deep house label Naked Music? Compilations across the globe are scrambling to slide their laidback, soulful grooves into a mix. Of course American audiences with an ear to the underground have known this for some time, but it often takes dance-obsessed England to spread the word en masse about an artist or label.
It's the numerous Naked cuts that offer the framework for this 21-track relaxed sunset release, but plenty of others deliver the sandy beaches of Ibiza to your speakers, most notably the wave-soaked "Tsunami" by Sven van Hees and blissfully sweet "Sweeter Love" by Blue Six. Various slices of house- vocal, jazzy, smooth, downtempo- cover the bases, ensuring most listeners will enjoy most the unmixed songs, while keeping their blood pressure low.
The eclectic selections and amount of filler may disturb some lawnchair loungers. Even so, a solid release and a good value as always from the Hed Kandi gang- but getting this without Naked Music's "Nude Dimensions: The Petalpusher Session," is akin to bringing those little umbrellas and forgetting the cocktails.
