Good, but not great,

This review is from: Watch Dogs - DedSec Edition (PS4) (Video Game)
Somehow Watchdogs just hasn't lived up to the hype. Don't get me wrong this is a very good sandbox but somehow it lacks a bit of soul. The lead character is a bit wooden and not all that likeable. Chicago whilst a beautiful in game city somehow also lacks character or the life that you feel when driving around in a GTA game. It never feels quite as real or as fun.
A lot of people have criticised the car handling in the game but I actually thought it was pretty good! It's slightly more realistic in a way but still fun enough to let you get some fun over steer moments going. Whilst the focus is on hacking the gunplay and cover aspects are all good too. Some of the side missions are actually great little diversions and the multiplayers works really well in this respect too. Every now and again your game world is "invaded" by another player who might be trying to hack you. Of course there's racing etc as well if you want it.
Musically the game is dreadful in my view. I almost always turn the radio off as soon as I get in a car. There are no DJ's and only the occasional news broadcasts. This totally lacks the humour and character you get in a GTA or Saints Row.
Ubisoft probably has a new series here. Hopefully though they'll learn from the shortcomings in this game and create something far superior next time around. There's plenty of good stuff here but it just falls short of greatness.
