a missing post punk classic?,
This review is from: Face Control (Audio CD)
This is probably the strongest album to date by the Handsome Furs, and is named after the door policy in certain Russian nightclubs.
It could easily be an unknown album by one of the harder edged post punk bands of the late seventies and early eighties, with some mid eighties electronica thrown in. Although not exactly lo fi, there is the sort of 'done in a loft' aesthetic to some tracks, performing with a full band could have broadened them out and given them more depth.
The strongest track is probably 'I'm confused' which has an urgency some of the other tracks lack, but overall this is a solid collection of slightly bleak sounding rock.
