I just wanted to say that this is a great album, and I know it might not please the die-hard tool freaks who think they're so cool! Granted, it isn't the massive leap forward i was hoping for, and it reminds me a lot of Lateralus in terms of size and scope, but this album is definately worth more than one or two stars. Vicarious is one of my favourite Tool songs ever, it's instantly lovable, relatively catchy (for a tool song) and still shows off the band's skill! My favourite song on the album is probably Right In Two, i dont quite know why, but i cant get enough of it. The melody, the lyrics, everything are absolutely beautiful. The albums opus Wings for Marie/10,000 days need to be listened to very loud, you get so much more from it, the raindrops, the odd whirring sound?, the eleven gongs, all set up a bleak picture of a funeral. Finally The Pot is a perfect showcase for the best vocalist in music to test his range.
Considering each album up to this was such a change from the previous one, I can understand why some people might critisise the band for not taking that giant leap, but this is the best album you will hear all year. Fact!
