Ruined by Vocals,
This review is from: Odeon (Audio CD)
Despite the usual great production and laid back beats I found this pretty hard to listen to, largely due to the vocals on most tracks.
Tosca can do vocals- check out the excellent Dehli 9. Here however despite technical proficiency for the most part they just don't work, sounding out of place, irritating or just plain weird. Some particularly dreadful lyrics in places don't help either.
When I'd all but given up on the album the last couple of tracks- 'Cavallo' and 'Bonjour' came along. These are easily the best on the whole record and give a frustrating glimpse of what could have been another classic Tosca release after the excellent 'No Hassle'. Unfortunately I can't recommend it based on just 2 songs. Pity.
