Only if you dare.,
This review is from: Rise of Flight - Channel Battles Edition (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Perhaps I should point out from the start of this review that although I have purchased a number of games down the years and enjoyed many of them, I always found them relatively easy to install and then get up and running. Not so this one, as it sets out; or so it seems, to stop you installing it in the first place. I have never come across such a difficult game to install. By the time you've installed it, you're virtually at the end of whatever patience you had in the first place.
Okay; now you are in and raring to go. The scenery is lovely and the planes are a joy if only you knew how to operate them. Attempts to follow the complex instructions are futile in my case as I took up so much time trying to install the damn thing in the first place. End of interest.
I refuse to shame myself by putting in writing long it took me to install this game. Suffice to say much longer than it should have been under normal circumstances. It seems to me that the makers have for one reason or another made it doubly difficult to get up and running and even after that they try to take over you and your computer and make you play online. Yes you can play off-line, but only if you give yourself wacky names and identities. I don't like the idea of a game no matter how sophisticated taking over your identity. It should clearly encourage you to get up and running first and then if you like it enough, spend more time over the fundamentals once you get used to it. This game seems to do the total opposite which left me with no other option but to uninstall it.
If you're new to gaming and relatively inexperienced installing programmes you may need some assistance with this one. The hardened gamer on the other hand may look on it as a decent challenge and enjoy it thoroughly. I am neither but rather somebody purchases for enjoyment and not as a life experience.
My recommendation is purchase if you dare as I also feel its overall good looks does not justify the price you have to pay for it if you don't like it.

Thanks your info is exactly what I wanted to know. I like flight sims but since IL2 it`s like you have to hand yourself over to slavery just to play the game! Shan`t.
