4.0 out of 5 stars Citizens or Subjects?, 21 Nov 2013

This review is from: THOMAS PAINE COMPLETE WORKS - ULTIMATE COLLECTION - Common Sense, Age of Reason, Crisis, The Rights of Man, Agragian Justice, ALL Letters and Short Writings (Kindle Edition)
Thomas Paine's words are as eloquent and relevant today as they were in the eighteenth century. Thanks to him, and others like him, Americans framed a society for themselves that, in principle, deemed that all would be equal. We in Britain have yet to show such courage, and continue to maintain an unelected hereditary monarchy that deems us all to be subjects and not citizens of our own country. Well worth reading for anyone interested in developing a fairer, more just society.

Excellent review. A correct balanced understanding that a Monarchy is not and can never be a Democracy. I have lived outside of England for many decades and see how the people allow themselves to be decieved decade after decade. This is the fundamental reason that the Engllish Government's attitude will never find harmony or become a real team member if the EU. Also, with whose money has the Monarchy been financed with for 100s of years? I need to know more people such as yourself.
