Invaluable insights into sociological theory,
This review is from: Modern and Postmodern Social Theorizing: Bridging the Divide (Paperback)
This book is the latest work of Prof. Mouzelis. Here he expands to a greater extent the propositions he forwarded in his "Back to Sociological Theory" and "Sociological Theory: What went wrong?". Although written in a very clear and straightforward manner, this book is basically for graduate (or advanced undergrad) sociology students and, of course, scholars. Mouzelis offers astounding analyses of the works of Giddens, Bourdieu, Archer, Parsons, Marxist theorists, pinpoints their impasses and tries to bring various perspectives together. People interested in sociological theory and the debates surrounding the micro-macro, agency-structure debates should have this book on their desk at all times!!!
