A really fantastic series which i can highly recommend. However i write this review for the hard of hearing. THERE ARE NO SUBTITLES which really ruins it for people like me who are pretty deaf. Bottom line is that if you do have hearing problems, then do not buy the dvd. Sad, because we deafies are really missing out on a superb product!

Thank you for alerting me to this fact - my partner is French and relies on subtitles to complete his understanding, such a shame as the subject is right up his street.

Well I do not know where you've got your information from, but I received this DVD a couple of days ago and as listed by both Acorn and Amazon it actually does come with subtitles - both for the main program and the extras. As a non-native speaker I totally agree with you on the importance of subtitles, but it would be a pity if potential buyers were kept from purchasing this wonderful DVD based on faulty information. Now here's hoping that Acorn will re-release the previous seasons with subtitles as well, about time!

Many thanks for the update, however i still cannot find the relevant obfo regarding subtitles on either site. It is this info we have been fighting for, for so many years.

Many thanks for the info. I think Amazon have added the fact that the series does have subtitles very recently. I like many HOH can now purchase the dvd.

As anither HOH I'm glad you raised this issue even though it turns out that, now, subtitles are included.

On the subject of subtitles one wonders about the cynicism of Amazon in this matter. It hosts forums such as this but makes no input itself to clarify matters or give undertakings to do something about them. Moreover Amazon makes no attempt to provide information whether a DVD has subtitles when promoting it on its site.Apart from the HOH's needs, subtitles are also important for persons for whom English is a second language and for those who have difficulty understanding some regional accents
