Enjoyable read with historical significance,
This review is from: Citadel (languedoc Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
I was delighted to get this book shortly after release and was not disappointed, Kate Mosse has served another remarkably interesting read offering a superb insight into a number of characters.
Sandrine and Marianne along with their friends and colleagues are extremely loveable characters who show care and compassion to those in need as well as the skilfullness to deal with the enemy.
Although the beginning of the book takes a while to get into, simply due to learning the characters and the cobweb of how their paths cross, the story is extremely well written. As I reached the last quarter, everything else had to be put in hold until the last page was complete.
The depth of feeling with which each individual has been described, whether resistance or gestapo, leaves you understanding the choices they have made, offering empathy to their status in the novel.
Well worth a read, some of it harrowing, but at times a feel good book about heroes overcoming the horrors of war and how love and trust can give hope in treacherous times.
