This is a truly fantastic cookbook that I have returned to time after time since I received it. The recipes come from all over the Mediterranean and the Middle East, from Turkish pizzas and Sicilian Granita to Iranian flatbreads and Greek Feta dip.
Some recipes require a bit of time to make, such as those involving labneh strained Greek yoghurt) and Sicilian almond granite, whilst others really do not require much time at all, such as the anchovy pasta dishes and the Italian flatbreads. All are fantastically flavoured and never leave you feeling underwhelmed.
Another fab thing, which can be a let down with books offering cuisine from places far away is the sourcing of ingredients for the recipes, a frequent problem I had with Plenty, where there is a need for Iranian Limes and preserved lemons (with no mention of how to make them). However, this cookbook not only provides recipes that can be sourced from most medium-sized suburban supermarkets, but also a recipe on how to make preserved lemons.
Overall, a fab book, suitable in equal measure for meat-eaters, veggies and pescatarians.
