The second helping of a great US TV crime series,
This review is from: The Untouchables: Season 2 [DVD] (DVD)
Series two maintains the high standards of the first, as Eliot Ness and his men continue their battle against the gangsters and criminals of the prohibition era.
Robert Stack's excellent performance as Eliot Ness lends his character a quitely spoken, yet great authority, and along with the rest of his men, a real likeability.
Amongst the 32, fifty-minute episodes, theres a two-part story "The Big Train", in which Al Capone's forthcoming transfer from his prison in Atlanta to the newly built Alcatraz, reveals a big plot to spring Capone from the train while on it's journey between the two prisons.
Walter Winchell's occasional narration brings a nice documentary feel to proceedings. This is a very entertaining crime series, directed at a good pace. A number of familiar guest stars appear, including Neville Brand, Steve Cochran, Barry Morse, and Elizabeth Montgomery, in a role thats far removed from her sweet natured character Samantha in the 1960's US TV comedy series "Bewitched".
The black and white picture and sound quality are good.
The soundtrack languages are: English, French, German, Spanish.
The subtitle languages are: English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish.
