When I was researching protein shakes I found that most of them contain artificial sweeteners, but this one doesn't - it contains sugar instead. This means that instead of about 100 calories per portion of the brands that contain sweeteners instead of sugar, this has 200. I think this is a small price to pay for a more natural product.
Flavour wise, it's not bad, but you certainly wouldn't confuse it with a glass of nesquik! It is a little powdery and has a slightly odd aftertaste (which I guess is the whey itself?) but I find the following tips make it much more appetising...
1. Make your shake using a blender instead of a shaker bottle
2. Use the coldest water you can
3. Use the lower of the recommended amounts of water replace some it with ice cubes
4. Add 2-3 drops of vanilla extract
The ice cubes get crushed up in the blender and help to thicken the shake, similar to adding ice cream to a smoothie. The vanilla somehow makes it taste richer and more chocolatey. Tip it into a pint glass and drink it down quickly before it separates. Ok, this may not be practical if you're making up your shake at the gym, but if you're home it's worth going to the extra effort.
