Still Giving It A Chance To Grow,
This review is from: Extant Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
I'm not that convinced by Halle Berry, either as an actor or as the character she's playing; for an astronaut she doesn't seem to possess the necessary emotional balance or self-control. However, she's not bad when compared to the others. Six episodes in and none of them seem to have any depth of character.
I like the kid, he's developing a bit now, as an android that is. Berry's 'husband' , though, is a self obsessed pain in the backside that treats his colleagues with no respect. That sounds like I almost care, well, I almost do. There's no-one that would be missed if they died, except Berry as she's very much the centre around which everything plods along.
However, I am a sucker for sci-fi, so I still lap it up even if it's cheesy, a bit slow at times, clichéd and stilted.
I nearly abandoned this after episode 3 but it seems to have turned a corner and maybe the characters will fill out eventually.
Can't wait for the next episode!

I have to agree with this post, I to was ready to ditch it after about the 3rd episode but thought i'll give it a couple more to see if it picks up. The only problem I can see now is that it's not going to get a second series. It's reminding me a bit of Defying gravity. It just seems to meander along, with a plot that is getting me hooked wanting to find out what the entity is going to do but failing to deliver any real action.
