Holds a decent charge, but potentially a very dangerous design fault!,

It seems battery reviews really divide opinion, but in my experience, these batteries held a looooong charge during Mass Effect bouts (easily 5-6 days of playing 3-6 hours a day). I don't know how this compares to the official battery pack, but it's good enough for me. The charge time is quick too, 1-2 hours. One thing to watch out for, though. I happened to get into a habit of storing my controller on top of the Xbox 360. The console has a thin strip of silver metal running around the top edge. One day the controller wouldn't work... On closer examination it turned out that the battery pack was thoroughly melted! The contacts on the battery were apparently shorted by touching the metal strip on the Xbox! I don't know how much more damage could have been done to the battery, controller and Xbox (thankfully the latter two were fine), but this is something to be aware of - where you put the controller - as it could have been an electrical fire. So now one of my batteries is dead too :(
Edit: would like to add that you pretty much need to have the controller on the cradle to charge. Since I only have one controller I have been caught short and had to use AA batteries. The reason is that the batteries *can* be put on the cradle alone to charge but they have to be balanced very delicately to make sure the contacts touch, so I rarely bother.

Hi, it worked just fine with the wireless controller that came with my Xbox 360 - the controller fits onto the cradle. You don't have to buy any extra controllers. Cheers.

Another very dangerous thing to do mate, don't charge up batteries on a system not designed for it, it can be really dangerous, read the do nots they are there for a reason.

Hi, I don't understand why you think I am doing something wrong - what I meant was that since I don't have a second controller I have to just put the battery itself into the charging contacts. I am using the Venom battery in the Venom cradle, just without it being in a controller. It all fits and charges fine, you just have to place it carefully because it doesn't have the controller around itself to balance. The light goes red while charging and then green when done. I've done this dozens of times.
