Hello PeterRH and thank you for the review of the Start 25.
The long GPS acquisition times you mentioned are not normal for this or any other model. When a device has not been used for quite some time (but not in a 2 week timeframe), or has been turned off a significant distance from where it is next turned on it can sometimes take longer to get a GPS Fix. If you have not already done so, I would suggest running a Soft Reset by holding the On/Off button until you hear the TomTom Drums sound. This reboots the operating software and clears out Temporary File clutter that can slow the device down.
Regarding the Speed Camera updates, this unit should have come with a Free update. If you provide your device serial number I can look into that for you.
For the mount points, we opted for built-in mounts on these devices for two reasons. One was to make the units more slimlined and ergonomic and reduce bulk. The other reason was because we suspected that the presence of the mount was effectively advertising the potential of a small and easily stolen / resold electronics item being within the vehicle.
