Vintage Costume Jewellery by Carole Tanenbaum,
This review is from: Vintage Costume Jewellery: A Passion for Fabulous Fakes (Hardcover)This is a lovely book which showcases most of the author's own personal collection of costume jewellery. There are useful insights into the history of the jewellery and there are hundreds of beautiful photographs.
However, I was disappointed that there are no photos provided which show the back of the jewellery pieces. The author comments that the back of the jewellery is just as important, if not more so, than the front and yet there are no images which I found very disappointing.
I'm just starting to collect vintage costume jewellery so although the information contained provides a useful insight, I would have preferred to see examples of the type of jewellery to look out for, perhaps not so expensive examples. Also information on the type of mounts used and photos of the back of the pieces would have been helpful too.
I recommend the book for anyone that want to see lots of pretty photography of designer costume jewellery.
